Yannik Winkelmann

Ph.D. student Macroeconomics University of Tübingen

Welcome! I am a Ph.D. student in Economics at the University of Tübingen. My research centers around macroeconomics, with a particular focus on household heterogeneity. I am particularly interested in how the interaction of household heterogeneity with shocks, policies, and uncertainty shapes economic outcomes and welfare. I use structural models and relate them to macro and micro data. I expect to finish my Ph.D. in the beginning of 2027.

Inflation and Price Flexibility

Yannik Winkelmann, Ivan Petrella, and Emiliano Santoro

European Economic Review

Using UK consumer price microdata, we show that time-varying aggregate price flexibility induces significant non-linearity in inflation dynamics, with important implications for the transmission of shocks and the conduct of monetary policy.

The Marginal Consumption Reaction to Uncertainty

Yannik Winkelmann

Work in progress

I study the role of consumption in the transmission of aggregate uncertainty. I construct a sufficient statistic for the marginal consumption reaction to aggregate uncertainty and discipline it with micro data to assess the importance of this channel for business cycle dynamics.
